Schoolwork Accomplished:

*Journal entry
*practice with money-couting and making purchases.
*Discussion about race.
*Discussion about the origins of the name Dunkin'Donuts, initiated by Leanna.  This lead into alliteration, which she did remember!  (Yay!  the things I'm teaching are sticking!)
*Loooong walk-from downtown to the church for Girl Scouts (with a stop at the dollar store in between).
*Brownie Girl Scout meeting-she bridged to junior girl scouts tonight!
Silent reading-gymnastics book again.  I think this is the third time she's reading it.

We took a bus into town and walked to the meeting.  Leanna's leader took us home again, along with Tom taking Justin.  I felt it was important for us to go as a family, to show her that she's important enough for us to go to the trouble of getting there and back, and also to show her brothers that we go to support family as well.

Schoolwork accomplished:

*Read You Wouldn't Want to be an American Pioneer!  A Wilderness You'd Rather Not Tame by Jacqueline Morley
*2 worksheets on Penguins and Antarctica by Mary Pope Osbourne.  One is a Thank you award for explorers (since several famous ones are described in the book).  The other is for charting animals described in the book.
*She did a word problems page in her math workbook, all on her own to surprise me. This included (simple) division problems.
*She did more pages of multiplication in the math workbook.
*Silent reading-Mr. Popper's Penguins
*Colored a picture of the American Flag that explains what the colors and stars and stripes stand for. (This was supposed to be done on Memorial Day, but that's another story)
*4 Journal questions on Mr. Popper's Penguins.
*2 Worksheets on Vacation Under the Volcano by Mary Pope Osbourne.  One making up questions to ask Jack & Annie and imagining their answers, the other was a travel report.

Rough day-she was not cooperating.  Kept wanting to go play after finishing a single item.  And most of the time it would be a sloppy product.  Like writing the award to capt. cook for "being a great explorer and discovering new lands".  (I told her that's first grade work. By third grade you better be giving me reasons WHY he's great and telling what he discovered!)  Later on, playing outside with brothers & neighbors.
