Schoolwork Accomplished:

*We lost electric today, so there were phone calls made, a bit of panic over losing food, and so I started reading Avi's City of Orphans since Leanna said she wasn't interested in that book at all.  I read I think 15 chapters and after that Leanna went and got a flashlight and read through 90% of the book before bed.  So not a lot of schoolwork done today, but we did find foods to eat (we could light the stovetop with a match since it's a gas stove but runs on electric startup.  And Daddy cooked on the grill for supper) and we entertained ourselves with-gasp-no computer or tv!   It was educational in the sense that they realized how much we rely on electricity.  They kept saying, Oh, I'll go do such and such, and I'd say you can't, no electric!

*I did give Jacob a dot pen and he used that on another page of dental pages (Letter T for Tooth, and he did start another gluing page but he poured so much glue out the whole thing was ruined).

Schoolwork Accomplished:
Leanna:
*Geography-Lessons 29 and 30 (products of Nebraska and Boroughs of NY)
*More clay sculptures
*Comprehensive Curriculum pages 559(Writing)349 (editing), 62 (analagies), 60 (Classifying: Regional Forecast), 59 (classifying) 356 (Proofreading), 357 (Proofreading)
*We started reading through the section in What Your Fifth Grader Needs To Know about common phrases and sayings.  I was surprised that she didn't know most of them.  Good discussion though.
*We also started going over the parts of speech in the literature section-she actually enjoyed doing direct and indirect objects (whose kid is this?).
*In general we discussed how we feel we've been doing with school and the house.  She wants to practice mutiplication/division more before she gets tested.

*Justin-he put together his triceratops bones and glued them to a short posterboard.  I read to him about dinosaurs.  We started fact families in his DK math workbook.
*Timothy-We did 3 pages in his DK math workbook and started reading a Scooby Doo book together.
*Jacob-we did more dentist pages.  He drew straight, curved, and slanted lines, did a maze, and chose which picture didn't match.  He also glued together a picture by matching the numbers on the pieces with the pieces on the page.
