Schoolwork Accomplished:
Leanna:
*Finishing last details to The Long Winter Lapbook-Yay! It's done!!
*Silent Reading:she finished EarthQuake in the Early Morning, Twister on Tuesday, Thanksgiving on Thursday and Tonight on the Titanic and High Tide in Hawaii all by Mary Pope Osbourne.
*A little bit of swimming.
*Jacob-he practiced counting and we read Open Wide:Tooth School Inside by Laurie Keller.
*Justin-math workbook (we started flying through and then he got stuck on what came after 89. For some reason he kept wanting to say 30. Or 80-10. Even after we counted by 10s and talked about how each number was 10 more than the last one......just not getting through). Outdoor play. Swimming. We read Cool Construction Vehicles by Bobbie Kalman and talked about Valley Forge while looking through Washington at Valley Forge by Russell Freedman.
*Timthy-5 pages in his math workbook (Frustrating-trying to explain what 'What is the difference' means. He kept wanting to say, there are more of that one, or well those are blue and these are red. It was like pulling teeth to get him to count and understand that subtracting is what he needed to do.) Outdoor play. Swimming. Computer play on PopTropica. We read Cool Construction Vehicles by Bobbie Kalman and talked about Valley Forge while looking through Washington at Valley Forge by Russell Freedman.
*I discussed why I don't want to spray chemicals on the rugs, furniture, etc.......and how I'd try to naturally combat the flea problem we have. I tried to be fair and explain that many people think the chemicals are fine to use (like their father).
*We had a trip to the grocery store (driven) tonight also.

Field Trip Day!
We caught the 7:30 bus to another bus to another bus to get to Allentown for Mayfair's Discovery Day for kids. We got lots of excersize, the kids made musical instruments (harps and rainsticks), watched a science demonstration from the Da Vinci Science Center, made block formations, made quilt squares, used motors to draw with crayons, played on giant letters, watched the ducks in the pond, tried out hoola hoops and later participated in a hoola hoop/yoga demonstration on stage. We heard music and looked at some of the artist's booths. The morning was cold, the afternoon was very hot and it was a LONG UPHILL walk to get to Grammy's house afterwards!!
So we had lots and lots of gym, art, crafts, science, & music. Then a short visit with Grammy & Pop-Pop (Justin and Timothy fell asleep there).

Schoolwork Accomplished:
Leanna:
*The Long Winter Lapbook- we glued scrapbook paper to the background (Leanna chose to do it like a patchwork quilt) and then finished re-writing the ones that weren't neat enough, and glued/taped them all in the lapbook. This took forever!!!!
*Trip to the library.
*Outdoor play in the pool (Hope and Christopher came by)
*Helped Timothy with his computer play.
*Silent Reading-Finished beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles: Book 2. And read Harry Potter of course!
*Lifeskills-she made a smoothie for everyone by herself.
Timothy-3 pages of DK Math workbook, including the beginning of subtraction with borrowing!! He did pretty well, it was just hard to keep him focused on it. He wanted to go do other things, but when I had him there, he did fine. Outdoor play in the pool. Trip to the library. Computer play on webkinz and PopTropica.
*Justin used some stencils to make shapes and cut them out, then pasted them in his folder to decorate it. Outdoor play in the pool. Trip to the library. Helping with Jacob.
We were ready to go out the door to the library when Pop-Pop called and offered to take us since there was a heat advisory. So he came and took me to the bank, to pick up a slip at the doctor's office, then we all got out at the library. He stayed for supper and a visit.
