*Geography week 26 questions-Oregon's forrests
*Leanna played games on Smokey the Bear's website (relates to fire safety and to our geography lesson on Oregon's forrests)
*Completely on her own, Leanna decided to memorize Robert Frost's Fire and Ice, and she gave impromptu recitals to her grandmother and Aunt tonight.  (From the book, Poetry U.S.A. edited by Paul Molloy)
*Multiplication Quiz Scores:
2 X Table: 3 minutes, 10 seconds, 1 wrong
3 X Table: 1ST ATTEMPT: 4 mintutes, 19 seconds, 10 wrong, 2ND ATTEMPT: 3 minutes, 57 seconds, 4 wrong

*Read two chapters of More Stories From Grandma's Attic.
*She wrote a couple short poems in her notebook.

I did the usual laundry and dishes and straightening up in the downstairs.  I folded and put in bags all the boys clothes-except for Justin's, because he can do them himself, then I'll put them in bags for him.  I cleaned the living room, with some help from my Mom and the boys(forced).  I cleaned some more in their room.  I packed two more boxes of toys from their room, and brought up stuff from the basement for Tom to take.

A strange, rainy day.  Not as productive as I expected.  I only packed in the evening.  My Mom came over and helped out in the boys' room.  Tom went to bed early, he was exhausted.
I'm beginning to worry about Leanna's work ethic.

Schoolwork accomplished:
*Looked up surrealism and examples, talked about how the movement started with literature.  Discussed Alice in wonderland as surrealism.  On our walk Leanna found an example of surrealism (the rain gushing down the street reminded her of the wavy distorted images in some of the pictures we looked at.)
*Spelling List 15 words copied twice each
*2 page Pronoun worksheet, Alice in Wonderland, no less!
*3rd grade reading comprehension-poem called All Things LIve Together by Lill Pluta
*Walked to the dollar store and Aharts in the pouring rain, just me & Leanna.
*General lifeskills with helping to pack up things for moving, and learning how to cook her own hotdogs today too.
*Silent reading-Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne (the real book, not one of the disney versions)
*She began & completed the first 3 pages of the loooong Alice in wonderland worksheet I found today.  It covers comprehension, punctuation, capitalization, & spelling, vocabulary, parts of speach, using the table of contents & glossary, books reviews, etc.  Quite a find!!
*She did another Alice in Wonderland worksheet I found today also, this one much shorter, only a page and a half.
*re-read a few more famous poems to Leanna.  (Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, William Carlos Williams)

My work accomplished: dishes, laundry, sweeping the kitchen & living room floor, clearing the general mess in both the kitchen and living room, getting groceries, cleaning the bathroom, picking up all the coats, hats, mittens, and scarves the boys knocked all over the floor, cleaning kitchen tables and counters, getting the trash and recycling out, packing stuff in Leanna's and the boys' rooms, bringing down a few things from the third floor to be loaded in the van.

3 X tables: 3 minutes, 10 seconds,  0 wrong

Leanna played outside today for quite a while with neighborhood kids.  She also spent a good portion of the afternoon reading Still More Stories From Grandma's Attic by Arletta Richardson, for the fourth time!  She and Jacob got a bath today.  Justin and Timothy "cleaned" out their closet-which really meant just throwing everything out of it.  But it was good because they got the shelf out of there and now it's waiting in Tom's van to go to the garage.  The boys spent a lot of time outside today playing in the sunshine.  I cleaned a bit out there.  I packed up some videos and computer stuff and brought down the changing table, bassinet and a box from the crib room.  I did general downstairs cleaning.  I made brownies.  I did several loads of dishes and laundry and straightened the hallway.  I did a quick clean in both of the kids' rooms.  Plus brought some stuff down from the third floor and helped Tom load the van.  My craft room is almost empty.  Tom was in the basement for a bit and realized that that room alone will be quite a challenge.  I plan to work more in the kids' rooms this week, and some in the kitchen.
