*Big long art session-project with pipe-cleaners, glue, googly eyes, and pom-poms.  Unfortunately lots of screaming too.  The older three kids each made several projects, mother's day presents for grandmothers, Ã…unts, neighbors, and maybe their Mom.  We signed our cards for tomorrow.
*Backyard time-running, playing, screaming, playing games.  The usual.

Schoolwork accomplished:

*Mulitplication.com-practiced with me reading her the questions because she was so lethargic that she wasn't typing.
*At night when she was feeling better she designed her own little book and stapled it together.  (english and art)
*She helped me bake a cheesecake.  This lead to my showing her how the measuring cups were actually fractions.  We took the 1/4 cup and emptied it into the 1 cup four times to illustrate the concept.  So this was both lifeskills and math!
*I read the kids a science book on germs, (Justin fell asleep).

I hadn't planned to have a light schoolday today, but she was still a bit sick, so I had no choice.

*Up early to get over to the Quakertown Library for the 3rd grade testing.  She did fine, a huge weight has been lifted from my chest.
*Afternoon play in front of the house, a bit of bike riding.  I figured I'd let her celebrate.  I was so glad to have one of the three steps for being able to continue homeschooling over, and so glad that the test had gone well.
*Then off for the mother/daughter dinner at Brownies.  This one didn't go so well, since as soon as we got there she started acting strange.  I kept asking if she felt all right.  Then finally she admitted she had a headache.  She felt warm.  She didn't eat, except a little ice-cream. In the car she laid her head down and lighltly snoozed, unusual for her. Gifts she'd made for me included placemats, tissue paper flowers, a mug she'd decorated and a certificate saying why I was a good Mom.  She served me pizza and a brownie with ice-cream.
When we got home Timothy was sleeping on the couch, all curled up.  Sue explained that she'd fought with him for an hour to get him to eat a peanut butter sandwhich and later realized he was sick.  He was also very warm.  Leanna sat on the chair and fell asleep.

Schoolwork Accomplished:

*Final draft of friendly letter to Deb
*four pages in fractions workbook
*helped Timothy write a letter to Grammy.  Also wrote her own short letters to Grammy and Aunt Laura.
*Test on Spelling List 16
*Re-wrote 5X each all the misspelled words
*We read four or five poems and she wrote several of her own, complete with illustrations.
*She did a journal entry
*I read LOTS of Roman info to her and we talked about it.  While I was reading to her, she was using play doh to create a sculpture of a Roman vender selling foods in the Forum (topic her choice).  She also made several  molds, like the ones they made of the remains in Pompeii.  We had good discussion.
*She went out bike riding after supper with her brothers, Noah, and two sisters from nearby.  This lasted for several hours, so it was a nice gym class.

I felt very good about today's work.
