Schoolwork Accomplished:

Leanna:
*We began with a review of the Franks, Merovingians, and Carolingians.  She wrote a list of which belonged to the latter two dynasties and some facts about the important rulers.
*We thought she had girl scouts tonight but she didn't and since we were already out, we walked to the dollar store and grocery store.  Leanna had to buy a birthday present for her friend, so she did some calculating to choose which items she could/couldn't buy.  Justin found a dollar so he also got to make purchasing decisions. So we all got some excersize.
*She did two pages in her DK math workbook
*We watched a short video on Who Was John Adams?
*She drew a picture of us
*We read a chapter in By the Shores of Silver Lake.

*Justin and Timothy attempted to do some math work but both were easily distracted and neither finished a whole page.  Timothy did some work in another wipe off book instead.

*We did a 30 second science experiment: a cd, flashlight, and box to create a rainbow.
A simple CD will create the prismatic colours of the rainbow if you look at the surface under bright light. The thousands of tiny grooves on the surface of the CD cause the light to split into its component colours in a process called diffraction. Although the light isn't being bent as with a true prism, the grooves are teasing out and reflecting various colours of the spectrum.
*We read chapter 22 in Story of the World.
*We read a chapter in The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder

*Timothy-we read On the Farm by Mercer Mayer together, computer play on PopTropica
