Schoolwork accomplished:
*Silent reading, The Laura Ingalls Wilder biography book
*several multiplication games through multiplication.com*read some poetry (Ogden Nash, Robert Pottle, Langston Hughes) and began memorizing "A Dream Deferred." We looked up unfamiliar words like deferred and fester. We talked about what the poem means and tried reading it in different ways, with different emphasis.
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--and then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
*She did a journal entry
*We read a website about Roman daily life and Roman baths.
*Then we explored a website about Roman baths ( http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/lostempires/roman/entrance.html ) through a link on the regular website.
I found it fascinating to know that Roman baths were a lot like modern malls-with bathing.
*We later made cards for a boy in Germany who has cancer.
*She spent a bit of time outside talking to Jennifer(the neighbor behind us) and later on we ran around yelling in the rain for a few minutes (they loved that).
